At Sitting of RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs

On May 4, the work of the regular sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs convened on April 30 continued moderated by Vladimir Vardanyan.

The Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission Tigran Mukuchyan presented for debate the report on the Activities of the RA Central Electoral Commission for 2018-2019.

According to the Speaker, during the reporting period the snap elections of the RA National Assembly, the Council of the Elders of Yerevan and the local self-government bodies in 170 communities were held.

Tigran Mukuchyan underlined that the results of the NA snap elections of 9 December 2018 were not disputed by court for the first time during the history of newly independent Armenia. The results of the elections were accepted by the voters, by the political forces participating in the elections and the civil society.

The results of the snap elections of the Council of the Elders of Yerevan of 23 September 2018 were also not disputed by court.

The Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission Tigran Mukuchyan also answered the MPs’ questions.

The Committee debated in the second reading and endorsed the revised version of the draft law on Making Addenda and Amendments to the RA Constitutional Law on Referendum authored by the RA NA deputies Hamazasp Danielyan, Heriknaz Tigranyan.

The draft law on Making Addendum to the RA Civil Procedure Code authored by the deputies of the NA Prosperous Armenia Faction Gevorg Petrosyan, Shake Isayan, Janibek Hayrapetyan, Arayik Aghababyan was debated in the first reading.

The RA Deputy Minister of Justice Vahe Danielyan presented the position of the government.

The MPs were for the idea of the initiative and noted that the fixed terms should be reviewed.

The Committee endorsed the draft law on Amending the RA Civil Code authored by the RA NA Bright Armenia Faction.

The draft law on Amending the RA Civil Code authored by the RA NA deputies Artur Davtyan, Anna Karapetyan, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, Sergey Atomyan was debated in the second reading and also endorsed.
