Cultural Event in Armavir Criminal-Executive Institution

On January 29, a cultural event was held in Armavir Criminal-Executive Institution of the RA Ministry of Justice on the joint initiative of the National Value Culture All-Armenian Fund and the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs of the National Assembly.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Value Culture All-Armenian Foundation Ashot Tadevosyan, the Foundation Director Nare Tadevosyan, the Deputy Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Ani Samsonyan, the Committee members Taguhi Ghazaryan, Artur Hovhannisyan, the Director of K. Stanislavsky Russian Drama Theatre Marianna Mkhitaryan and poet Gor Harutyunyan.

Before the start of the event Ashot Tadevosyan and Ani Samsonyan have made welcoming remarks, noting that the main goal of the day is giving spiritual, cultural satisfaction, smile to those being in prison, changing at least one day of their life. Ashot Tadevosyan also announced about the competition with the heading I Love My Country which will be carried out in all Criminal-Executive Institutions, and the authors presenting their best works will be given monetary awards. The event began with the mono performance MES, 911, How Can I Help You? staged by the Artistic Director of Drama Theatre of Abovyan City Armen Sargsyan and played by Liana Avetisyan. Afterwards poet Gor Harutyunyan presented some of his works.

During the whole event the artist Ashot Tadevosyan painted the pencil sketches of the convicted and presented them as a gift, and the convicted took part in the competition and painted the painter’s portrait as they saw and could.

It is remarkable that the foreign convicted also took part in it. The authors of the best paintings received painting items personally from Ashot Tadevosyan and prizes from the MPs. Armenak Davtyan was given a prize for the best coverage of the day. At the end of the event the convicted handed to the organizers their clay works, expressing words of gratitude for giving them such an exceptional and beautiful day.
