In this context Ararat Mirzoyan expressed his deepest gratitude for the adoption of the initiative on recognition of the 1915 Armenian Genocide by the Chamber of Deputies on 10 April 2019.

At Roberto Fico’s request Ararat Mirzoyan touched upon the economic, judiciary and political reforms started in Armenia after the Velvet revolution and the snap parliamentary elections held in December 2018, the fight against corruption, as well as the challenges facing the country.

Speaking about the Nagorno Karabakh issue Ararat Mirzoyan reaffirmed the faithfulness of Armenia to solve the problem exclusively through peaceful means and in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. Presenting the current procedure of the negotiations Ararat Mirzoyan stressed that taking into consideration the deconstructive rhetoric of the Azerbaijani authorities all progress should be welcoming in the negotiations. The RA NA President highlighted the manifestation of the balanced and constructive approaches on different platforms by the international counterparts, including the use of the formulations agreed in the frameworks of the OSCE Minsk Group format.

Agreeing with Ararat Mirzoyan’s viewpoint on the rhetoric Roberto Fico has underlined that Italy would promote the establishment of the dialogue which is the only way for peacefully and long-lastingly solving the conflict.

Ararat Mirzoyan has called on his colleague to ratify the RA-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement within possibly short term, which will lay down on the legal bases the relations of Armenia not only with the EU, but also enliven the ties with all member countries.
