Vahe Enfiajyan Meets with UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia

On October 25, the RA NA Vice President Vahe Enfiajyan met with the UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia Shombi Sharp.

Welcoming the guest in the parliament, Vahe Enfiajyan highlighted the effective activity of the UN Office in Armenia in all spheres.

The Vice President of the National Assembly thanked the UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia for assisting the four-year programme Modern Parliament for Modern Armenia.

Talking about the UN mission in Armenia Shombi Sharp has assured that the organization is ready to help the parliament for strengthening the capabilities and show support for the implementation of the reforms in different spheres.

During the meeting the sides touched upon the military actions carried out in Syria by Turkey. In this context Vahe Enfiajyan was interested in the destinies of 300.000 refugees suffered from those actions and the steps taken by the UN.

Shombi Sharp has noted that the UN observes the developments over Syria and that latter is ready to assist the RA Government in the frames of its main mandate the refugees arriving in Armenia for showing international protection and humanitarian aid.

Touching upon the Nagorno Karabakh conflict the sides highlighted the solution of the problem settlement in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.

The NA Vice President was interested in the programmes underway by the UN in the borderline communities of Armenia.

The UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia has noted that the development programme of the structure continues the support, particularly, to the rural communities of Tavush Marz.

At the meeting concerned discussion was held and the sides presented their vision for the future cooperation.
