Issues on Armenian-Chinese Inter-Parliamentary Relations and Economy Discussed

On October 25, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration Mikayel Melkumyan met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) Tian Erlong.

Mikayel Melkumyan underlined the development and the expansion of the cooperation between the two countries’ parliaments, as well as in the sphere of economy. It has been noted that the goods turnover with China is about 800mln USD, which is about 20%more than on the previous year.

It was considered important to have a free trade zone with the PRC. “It is necessary not only import Chinese goods to the Armenian market, but also modern high technologies, and its use will give an opportunity to develop the economic sphere,” the Chair of the Standing Committee said. He also underlined the importance of creating joint ventures and joining the economic project One Belt One Road, initiated by the Chinese side. Mikayel Melkumyan proposed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to cooperate with the Committee led by him.

Tian Erlong expressed readiness in that issue. He emphasized the bilateral cooperation in bilateral and EEU framework. The deepening of the Armenian-Chinese relations in different sphere and the cooperation in the international structures was stressed.
