Working Discussion on Sevan Eco-System
1 / 4

On September 18, a working discussion was held at the RA NA Standing Committee on Territorial, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment dedicated to Sevan eco-system problems.

The bodies of the state administration and the public sector indicated the problems of the Lake Sevan at the joint meeting three years ago. What was presented had been in the parliament with the participation of the Committee members, the representatives of the concerned structures, Gegharkunik Regional Administration and other concerned structures. The rates of raising the water level, the steps directed to fish industry, fishing, the cleaning of the lake shore territories and forests were among the problems. As the Committee Chair Varazdat Karapetyan has documented, the presented directions would be at the centre of the parliamentary oversight. According to him, the working meeting will give an opportunity to present financial distinct bids on Sevan problems at the preliminary discussion of the state budget for 2020.

At the meeting the RA Deputy Minister of Environment Vardan Melikyan noted that the Lake Sevan eco-system restoration process had launched. The works started with cleaning of the shore wood layer.
