At Sitting of RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs

At September 3 regular sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, moderated by Vladimir Vardanyan, a number of legislative initiatives were debated in the first reading.

According to the RA Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Harutyunyan, the Committee debated the bill on Making Addendum to the RA Law on the RA Holidays and Memorial Days, by which it is proposed to mark December 7 as Day of Earthquake Victims Memory and Disaster Resistance.

The RA Deputy Minister of Justice Anna Vardapetyan presented the legislative package on Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA Criminal Code.

The legislative package on Making Addendum to the RA Criminal Code and on Amending the RA Code on Administrative Infringements proposes to criminalize the cases of the animals’ mutilation, annihilation and torture.

The key speaker Naira Zohrabyan noted that the international experience was studied in the elaboration phase of the draft package.

The RA Government presented a number of recommendations on the legislative package, which were completely admissible by the authors.

The draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA Constitutional law the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, according to Arman Babajanyan, is aimed at making the work of the RA NA Standing Committees more effective and accountable.

The Committee members endorsed the presented bills for including them in the draft laws of the agendas of the session and the regular sittings.

The Committee will continue the sitting on September 4, at 10:00a.m.
