Parliament Ends Works of Extraordinary Sessions

On July 1, the RA National Assembly continued the work of the extraordinary session convened on June 28.

The deputies debated in the second reading the draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the law on State Registration of the Rights towards Property with the enclosed legislative package, the draft laws on Amending the RA Civil Procedure Code, on Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA law on State Pensions, on Making Addenda and Amendments to the RA Law on State Allowances, on Making Addenda and Amendments to the RA Law on Provision, Service and Social Guarantees of the Officials’ Activity, which were passed by voting at the end of the sitting.

Covering the agenda the parliament ended the work of the extraordinary session.

On the initiative of the government, immediately after the end of the NA extraordinary session convened on June 28, by the decision of the RA NA Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan, under the Article 100 of the RA Constitution and the Article 44 of the RA Constitutional Law the Rules of Procedure, on the NA deputies’ initiative the NA extraordinary session was convened, having on the agenda the item of the election of the Supreme Judicial Council member .

Under the Paragraph 2 of the Article 144 of the RA Constitutional Law the Rules of Procedure, My Step Faction of the National Assembly nominated Anna Margaryan as a candidate for the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) member. The item was debated by the established order of the Article 135 of the law the NA Rules of Procedure.

The Head of My Step Faction Lilit Makunts presented the candidate’s biographical and professional characteristics.

Anna Margaryan presented her approaches related to the implementation of the SJC activity and the fundamental principles of the judicial-legal reforms.

Gevorg Gorgisyan expressed the viewpoint of the NA Bright Armenia Faction noted that their Faction would vote against it.

Sergey Bagratyan expressed the viewpoint of the NA Prosperous Armenia, underlining that there is public mistrust towards judicial system.

As a result of voting, with 66 for and 19 against the nominee Anna Margaryan was not elected the SJC member.

Covering the agenda the National Assembly ended the work of the extraordinary session.
