Deputies Meet with Chief Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs

On June 21, the members of the RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport, as well as the NA other deputies met with the Chief Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan and the Head of the Office of the Chief Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Sara Anjargolian.

The interlocutors discussed the functions of the structure, different communities of Diaspora, the cooperation with its certain sectors, the visits to be paid by the Chief Commissioner, the repatriation, the boosting of the investments, as well as the improvement of the legislation regulating the sphere.

Presenting his working path and the works to be done and how he sees the work, Zareh Sinanyan has noted that permanently residing in the U.S. he has cheished the idea of settling in the Motherland, which today due to inner-political changes has become reality.

“Now Armenia has become attractive,” Zareh Sinanyan has particularly noted, adding that we need favourable conditions for boosting repatriation, and the improvement of the legislation is the most important one: making it understandable and eliminating various obstacles, which come across with the repatriates. To his observation, now there is repatriation in small amount.

The deputies addressed numerous questions to the newly appointed Commissioner and underlined the readiness of cooperating.

The Committee Chair Mkhitar Hayrapetyan has noted that in connection with a number of issues touched upon by the Commissioner legislative works are already implemented and the item of expediency of having a law regulating the sphere of repatriation is also at the phase of debate. He highlighted the works to be done by the structure, and the Committee members also would support them as much as possible.
