Rise of Woman’s Role in Public-Political Life Highlighted

On June 18, the member of the RA NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Maria Karapetyan, the member of the RA NA Armenia-Argentina, Armenia-Uruguay Friendship Group Sona Ghazaryan and the member of the RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Hripsime Grigoryan met with the members of the Pollera Pantalon initiative, representing the female entrepreneurs from Argentina being in our country on cognitive visit. Representatives of a number of NGOS being engaged with the protection of women’s rights also took part there.

The goal of the visit is to study the dynamics of the economy development in Armenia and discuss the possible ways of cooperation.

Maria Karapetyan has noted that there is a great potential of cooperation: the friendly relations of the two countries, as well as the formed legal-contractual field are considered to be a firm basis for the full cooperation in the spheres of trade, economy, culture, tourism and other spheres.

According to Hripsime Grigoryan, the women had their special role in the velvet revolution, and now they have in the institutional policy. She referred to the woman’s role in the political, social-economic and other spheres of Armenia and the possibilities of their further involvement in the political field.

Underlining the two peoples’ firm friendship, Sona Ghazaryan emphasized the activity of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups

Maria Karapetyan reflected upon the situation created in Armenia after the velvet revolution, the transitional justice and the challenges of democracy development.

The members of the initiative presented to the Armenian parliamentarians the changes and achievements going on in the political, economic, social spheres in their country. The rise of the woman’s role in the public-political life as a necessary precondition of the formation of the civilized society and progress was highlighed.

The questions addressed to the deputies related to the working legal relations, the free economic competition, the provision of the favourable investment field, the tax legislation and the prevention of the domestic violence.
