On June 15, in the National Assembly a meeting was held with the women invited from different countries by the organization Democracy Today, and its goal was the exchange of thoughts over common problems for the Armenian deputies and the civil society of different states and regions.

The deputy of the RA NA My Step Faction Maria Karapetyan noted that the non violent velvet revolution happened in spring 2018 was a success due to the principles and values, by which the citizens were led for establishing their power in the country. The speaker noted as such justice, freedom, equality and exclusion of violence.

The deputy presented the amendments done and the ongoing ones, touched upon the implementation of the reforms, particularly emphasizing the democratic institutes, the transitional justice, the fight against corruption, the overcoming of poverty and providing equal rights and opportunities for women and men.

Maria Karapetyan also touched upon the problem of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, noting that it exclusively should find peaceful solution in the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship.

The MP answered the questions concerning the guests which related the ongoing reforms in our country, the women’s participation in the negotiation processes, the oversight functions of the National Assembly and the activity of the social information platforms.
