Items on Management of Forest Entities Discussed

At June 14 discussion, the Working Group on Effective Management of the Forests adjunct to the RA NA Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment moderated by the RA NA deputy Mary Galstyan, touched upon the management of the forest entities, the legislative gaps of the sphere and the directions of their complex s olution. The RA NA deputies, the representatives of a number of state and non-governmental organizations coordinating the sphere, the journalists and independent experts took part in the working debate.

The affirmation of the regulations priorities of the sphere, the study of the voiced items and the planning of the further thematic debates was on the agenda.

The Head of the Working Group Mary Galstyan presented the main directions of the reforms in the sphere, touched upon the strategic ways of forest restoration, the strengthening and improvement of the institutional capabilities, the instrumental upgrading, the provision of forest science and education, the elaboration of short-term and long-term forest management plans.

The participants have referred to the forest control mechanisms, tree cutting, the increase of the forest territories, the problems on the especially preserving territories, noting that any item has a need of comprehensive debate.

Mary Galstyan has highlighted the debates in such format, noting that the goal of the formation of the Working Group is to create a consultative platform, where the specialists can present the existing problems, analyses, promoting the reform process of the legislative field.
