1 / 4

On May 16, the members of the RA NA Standing Committee Hayk Gevorgyan and Gevorg Papoyan met with the students of YSU Faculty of Economics and Management. The theme of the discussion was the tax reforms of our country.

During the upcoming regular sittings the amendments being proposed to the RA Tax Code and the enclosed draft laws will be discussed. According to Hayk Gevorgyan, the main goal is the improvement of the tax system: an attempt is made to have the functioning tax five-degree system into three-degree one. The targeted provision is the leveling of the tax system. The opposition political forces and some specialists of the sphere insist on the rich people being taxed in little amounts as a consequence of leveling, and those with average incomes – much.

“It does not correspond with the reality, as the income tax of every salary is calculated according to the designed percentage for it,” Gevorg Papoyan said and added that the income tax of one million drams will be about 200.000-250.000 drams.

According to Hayk Gevorgyan, due to the income tax growth of average salary will be registered. Touching upon the the decrease of the shadow during last one year, the MP noted that it took place “without terror, without any intervention.”

For the first time more than 15.000 consumers were registered in the consumer's market which speaks about the positive index of migration, the speaker noted.

The increase of production volumes and export are considered priority for our country. According to Gevorg Papoyan, the reduction of the profit tax will create favourable conditions for those being involved with production. According to him, the basis of the reforms is the development of different branches of economy.

The speakers also touched upon the investment programmes, the problems of agriculture and other spheres, highlighting to find them as soon as possible.

The students addressed numerous and various questions concerning the rise of salaries and pensions, the reduction of unemployment and the decrease of different kinds of taxes.
