Problems on Drug Turnover Debated in NA Standing Committee on Health Care and Social Affairs

On May 16, on the initiative of the NA Standing Committee on Health Care and Social Affairs a working discussion was organized on the theme The Problems on Medicine Turnover in the Republic of Armenia. Representatives of the RA Ministry of Health Care, Academician E. Gabrielyan Scientific Centre of Drug and Medical Technology Expertise CJSC and Health Care and Labour Inspection Body took part in the discussion.

The Committee Chair Narek Zeynalyan has noted that the problem mainly relates to refusing from VAT in the drug market and price regulation.

The RA Deputy Minister of Healthcare Anahit Avanesyan touched upon the formation of the price policy in the sphere of drug turnover and the statistics existing in the regional countries.

The Company Deputy Director Albert Sahakyan highlighted the assessment of the impact of the budget on the market in the study of the sphere of drugs.

During the discussions the MPs and the specialists of the sphere touched upon the sale of non-registered drugs, and the mechanisms fighting against it, the reduction of the drug prices, the influence on import order in the illegal turnover, the simplification of the drug registration procedures, etc.

It has been noted that in the near future the Committee will submit a legislative recommendation on the exempting from VAT and price formation of drugs.
