Andranik Kocharyan: Armenia and Russia Unites Centuries-Old Friendship and It is Inseparable

On May 15, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security Andranik Kocharyan, the members of the Committee Tigran Karapetyan, Vardan Vardanyan and the NA deputy Gor Gevorgyan met with the delegation of the RF FA Council of the Federation Committee on Defense and Security.

Welcoming the colleagues from Russia in the RA National Assembly, Andranik Kocharyan congratulated them on Victory Day, noting that about 600.000 Armenians took part in the unprecedented war and had their contribution in the victory against fascism.

The Committee Chair has briefly presented and highlighted the high level of the Armenian-Russian relations after gaining independence, the documents signed between the two countries, which serve as a basis for strategic cooperation. Andranik Kocharyan underlined the ways of cooperation and development in the spheres of defense, culture and in the political field.

The sides also considered important the rapprochement of the inter-parliamentary ties and in that context the official meetings of the RA NA Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan and the Speaker of the RF Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly Valentina Matviyenko.

It has been noted that new programmes are jointly implemented in the sphere of defense, but there are legislative problems, and works are done in its solution.

The Deputy Chair of the RF FA Council of the Federation Committee on Defense and Security, the Head of the delegation Sergey Arenin deemed important in the development of the inter-parliamentary relations the constructive cooperation and continuity between the committees.

The Head of the delegation has expressed confidence that the Russian-Armenian centuries-old friendship would strengthen and become powerful.

Regional problems, issues concerning the development and deepening of the sphere of defense were also discussed.
