Issues on Merit System in Civil Service Discussed

On May 2, the deputies of the RA NA My Step Faction Hamazasp Danielyan, Viktor Yengibaryan, Koryun Mkrtchyan, Sona Ghazaryan and Narine Khachaturyan met with Ronald Weiss, Administrative Judge, the Representative at the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board being in Armenia within the framework of the program Toward a Merit-Based Public Service . The program is carried out by financing of the U.S. State Department and the American Councils for International Education.

Ronald Weiss presented to the deputies the mission, the role, the importance, the structure and the main directions of the activity of the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board.

Talking about the fundamental principles, the achievements of the U.S. merit system state service, the speaker has underlined that the goal of the program is to make applicable the experience the U.S. succeeded and effective sphere in Armenia, He talked about the necessity of the oversight body in the civil service system, and its mission is the protection of the employees’ rights in the system.

The RA NA deputy Hamazasp Danielyan has noted that Armenia is in the period of the radical important reforms and is resolute to advance through the development of democracy. To the MP’s conviction, the American experience will have a significant role in terms of making positive changes in the civil service system of Armenia.

Ronald Weiss answered the MPs’ questions on the functions of implementing service examination and the mechanisms of protection.
