RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport Convenes a Sitting

On May 2, the RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport convened a regular sitting, which the Deputy Chair of the Committee Hovhannes Hovhannisyan.

The Committee in the first reading has debated the draft law on Making Addendum to the RA Law on the RA Holidays and Memorial Days authored by the members of the RA NA Prosperous Armenia Faction Naira Zohrabyan and Vahe Enfiajyan, which proposes to add a new Article in the law and establish April 16 as Armenian Cinema Day. The Committee member Anna Kostanyan positively assessed and highlighted the adoption of the draft law.

The RA Deputy Minister of Culture Nazeni Gharibyan presented the negative conclusion of the RA Government.

The Committee members’ viewpoints were also different: the part of the deputies considered necessary to have Armenian Cinema Day, the others believed that it was also enough that the international community celebrates December 28, among them also Armenia, the International Cinema Day.

As a result of voting, the draft law was endorsed by the Committee, and it would be proposed to include it in the draft law of the NA regular sittings’ agenda.

The Committee in the second reading debated and endorsed the legislative package on Making Addendum to the RA Law on Advertisement and on Making Addenda to the RA Code on Administrative Infringements.

The package will be included in the draft law of the NA regular sittings’ agenda.

The Committee has debated and endorsed the draft decision on creating three Sub-Committees including the spheres of Education and Science, Culture, Relations with Repatriation and Diaspora, sport and youth, Television, radio, press and information, and its aim is to make dynamic and operative the work of the Committee.
