On April 29, the representatives of the RA NA Armenia-Czech Friendship Group met with the delegation led by Marek Benda, the Chairman of the Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, the Head of the Czech Republic-Armenia Friendship Group.

Welcoming the guests, the Head of Armenia-Czech Republic Friendship Group Gayane Abrahamyan has noted that the principle of accepting and emphasizing the democracy by the two countries as an absolute value lays the Armenian-Czech relations on genuinely new plane. The MP highlighted the active cooperation of the parliaments’ Friendship Groups for the benefit of the development of the two countries’ relations.

Gayane Abrahamyan expressed her gratitude to the Czech Republic for the support in the important issues for Armenia in different international structures. She in particular highly assessed the adoption of the resolution recognizing and condemning the Armenian Genocide and other crimes committed against humankind by the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament in 2017, expressing hope that the Upper Chamber of the parliament also would recognize the Armenian Genocide.

Talking about the ratification process of the RA-EU Comprehensive and Advanced Partnership Agreement by the EU countries, the Head of the Group evaluated the steps that the Czech Republic had taken in that direction.

Touching upon the expecting changes in the judicial system of our country, Gayane Abrahamyan valued the study of the experience by the Czech Republic through decades.

Marek Benda, the Chairman of the Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament attached importance to the deepening of the Armenian-Czech parliamentary cooperation and talked about the activities of the Armenian community in the Czech Republic.

With regards to the issue of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement Marek Benda expressed hope that the problem should be soon solved through peaceful means.

The member of the NA Armenia-Czech Republic Friendship Group Arman Yeghoyan, talking about the dialogue on the liberalisation of the EU entry visas for the citizens of Armenia, considered important the position of the EU every member state. The MP expressed hope that the Czech Republic would have positive and constructive position. Arman Yeghoyan invited the Czech parliamentarians to take part in the opening of the Pan-Armenian Games to be held in Nagorno Karabakh on August 6 of this year.
