Details on Conference Held in Bucharest Presented
1 / 3

On April 1-2, a Conference organized by the parliament of Romania was held in Bucharest, and the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on European Integration presented details on its works at April 12 press conference. The Committee member Gayane Abrahamyan also took part in the works of the Conference.

In the Conference the current and future problems of Europe, the relations with the Eastern Partnership countries, as well as the issues regarding the reduction of jobs in case of technological development, the effective cooperation in case of difference of partner states’ economic levels and fight against corruption were particularly discussed.

Among the Eastern Partnership Member States Armenia, Georgia and Moldova took part in the event. The Armenian delegates presented their vision on the perspective of the RA-EU cooperation development.

“I stressed that Armenia that began making reforms, and the great part of them coincides with the agenda which the EI had with us, does that not only getting encouragement from the EU, but stemming from our citizens' demand. That is our vision, and the EI could be part of those reforms, which to my conviction would also have spreading influence on the Eastern Partnership countries,” Arman Yeghoyan said.

The MP informed that after the revolution Armenia had done a great work on almost 20 messages addressed to the Eastern Partnership countries, particularly in the fight against corruption, the freedom of speech, the protection of human rights, the freedom of press and assemblies.

During the discussions the Armenian MPs drew the attention of the EU Member States' parliamentarians and the representatives of the government to the regional security issues and challenges. Discussions had also been during a number of non official meetings. At April 2 discussion Gayane Abrahamyan mentioned about the aggression carried out in Nagorno Karabakh on that day, once again drawing her colleagues' attention to the issues of the regional stability.

In the Q & A format Arman Yeghoyan, among other items, also talked about signing of the EU-Azerbaijan possible Agreement, touching upon the provisions being supposed in that Agreement on the NK problem. To his assessment, those formulations should be made with the similar norms of maximum balanced and harmonized Agreement and the ongoing processes with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. The MP has underlined that here the interests of all sides should be taken into consideration, as the regional security depends on everybody.

“I hope that our colleagues negotiating by the EU will show maximum balance, as the further process of our relations depends on it,” the Committee Chair documented.

Arman Yeghoyan informed that Gayane Abrahamyan and he returned to Armenia by Bucharest-Yerevan flight implemented for the first time. He expressed hope that the operation of the flight would promote the development of tourism and bilateral relations.
