Anush Begloian Meets with Charge d\\\'Affaires of the Embassy of Lithuania to Armenia

On April 10, the Head of Armenia-Latvia-Lithuania-Estonia Friendship Group of the RA National Assembly Anush Begloian met with the Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania Izolda Bričkovskiené.

The diplomat welcomed the creation of the Parliamentary Friendship Group, wished the Group members effective work for the benefit of the development of the relations between the two peoples and states.

Anush Begloian expressed her gratitude to the country that was the first to recognize the independence of the Republic of Armenia and highlighted the fact of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Lithuania, qualifying that step as a regular victory of civilisation. She also evaluated the role of the parliamentary diplomacy and the Friendship Groups in the development and deepening of bilateral relations, underlined the importance of the effective cooperation on the international platforms.

According to Izolda Bričkovskiené, in May 2019 the visit of the parliamentary delegation of Armenia to Vilnius, where meetings would be with the parliamentarians of Lithuania and Committee members, issues concerning the parliaments’ set of tools, the parliamentary oversight mechanisms and the legislative activity.

Touching upon the Nagorno Karabakh conflict Anush Begloian has underlined that the issue is observed in the context of providing stable peace in the whole region.

She expressed hope that Lithuania-Artsakh Friendship Group would also be formed in the new parliament of Lithuania.

Issues on the development of the RA-EU relations were also discussed. Anush Begloian thanked Lithuania for the constructive and friendly position, the cooperation with the delegations of Armenia on the international platforms and the team work.

According to the Charge d'Affaires, the RA-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, already ratified by her country, creates wide opportunities for the development of different spheres.

The sides referred to the issues relating to the political processes occurred in Armenia during one year, the systemized reforms, the development of democracy and fight against corruption.
