Ararat Mirzoyan Receives Ambassador of Argentina to Armenia

On April 2, the Head of Parliament Ararat Mirzoyan received Gonzalo Urriolabeitia, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary: of the Argentine Republic to Armenia.

Welcoming the Ambassador, the Head of the legislative body underlined the interest of Armenia in further deepening the relations with the Latin American regional countries, including Argentina. According to him, despite the geographical distance, good preconditions exist for the development of bilateral relations. In this context Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the strengthening of inter-parliamentary ties, the role of the activity of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups, mutual visits and international diplomacy.

The NA President welcomed the decision of the Parliament of Argentina - Declare April 24 of every year as "Day of action for tolerance and respect among peoples" in commemoration of the genocide of which the Armenian people were victims. Presenting the position of the Armenian side on Nagorno Karabakh issue settlement, the Head of the legislative body reaffirmed the resoluteness of Armenia on the solution of the problem through exclusively peaceful negotiations in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, the only structure having international mandate.

Gonzalo Urriolabeitia has noted that his country also supports the policy of solving the conflicts through peaceful means. He greatly highlighted the role of the parliamentary diplomacy, the partnership between the legislative bodies and the necessity of filling in the existing friendly ties with the new agenda.

The sides evaluated the cooperation on the international parliamentary platforms, in addition to the existing political and cultural ties, also the expediency of cooperation in the economic sphere.

Both sides stressed the role of the Armenian community in Argentina in the different spheres of the inner policy of Argentina, as well as in strengthening of the Armenian-Argentine relations.
