Bright Armenia Faction Presents Its Version of Government Structure
1 / 4

At March 27 press conference, the RA NA Bright Armenia Faction presented a package of recommendations on the RA Government structure.

The Head of the Faction Edmon Marukyan has noted that the draft law approved by the Government is of technical character that is why numerous questions have remained without response, the parliamentary oversight set of tools lacks.

The faction proposes to include fourteen ministries in the government instead of twelve, restore the position of the Third Deputy Prime Minister. The latter will replace the Commissioner on Diaspora, who will be involved with the Diaspora and repatriation and provide the relation with our compatriots and will be engaged with the problems of the sphere.

The document of the Bright Armenia faction proposes to restore the ministries of agriculture and culture.

“In a country, where the 12 percent of the GDP provides the agriculture, then the structure regulating the sphere shall be restored and function,” Edmon Marukyan said.

The deputy Mane Tandilyan also evaluated the role and significance of the agriculture in the development of the country’s economy.

The deputy Taron Simonyan considered important the restoration of the Ministry of Culture as a separate structure, noting that the cornerstone of the Armenian statehood is of culture content.

The document recommends renaming the Ministry of Justice into Legal Affairs, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations will function in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The structures of the National Security and other law enforcement structures will be accountable before the parliament and by that provide the parliamentary oversight.

It was noted that the package of recommendations had already been sent to the Government. “We are ready for dialogue,” Edmon Marukyan said.
