Armenian and Czech Parliamentarians Discuss Issues on Bilateral Cooperation

On March 12, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security Andranik Kocharyan and the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Ruben Rubinyan met with the delegation headed by Patrik Kunčar, the Vice-Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Security of the Senate of the Czech Republic.

Andranik Kocharyan highlighted the guests’ participation in the seminar to be held in the RA NA within the framework of the NATO week, informing that issues concerning the democratic oversight of the RA Armed Forces. The Committee Chair is hopeful that the discussions will be effective.

The interlocutors underlined the fair, transparent and democratic elections held in Armenia, as a result of which, a parliament enjoying the people’s trust was formed. They touched upon the development of the inter-parliamentary ties and evaluated the role of the parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.

The guests expressed readiness to assist the implementation of the bilateral beneficial programmes.

Touching upon the Nagorno Karabakh problem settlement Ruben Rubinyan reaffirmed the position of the Armenian side to solve the conflict exclusively through peaceful means. According to the Committee Chair, Azerbaijan has military exercises without initially announcing, and such actions don’t promote the peace. “We expect decent assessment from our international colleagues,” Ruben Rubinyan said.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Armenia Petr Mikyska also took part in the meeting.
