On February 25, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport Mkhitar Hayrapetyan met with the representatives of Los Angeles Armenian community. It was held in the Iranian-Armenian Union Hall, which organized the RA Consulate General in the U.S.
The Executive President of the Iranian-Armenian Society Tomik Aleksanian and the RA Consul General in Los Angeles Armen Bayburdyan addressed the attendees with welcoming remarks.
Delivering a speech Mkhitar Hayrapetyan highlighted the meeting of the Armenian officials being abroad with the Armenian local community for any purpose. According to him, it is a means to know better their problems, listen to them and support their solution, discuss the agenda items in Armenia. The Committee Chair touched upon the extraordinary parliamentary elections, highlighted the development of the educational sphere and presented the provisions of the RA Government program and the position of the RA new authorities on Artsakh problem. Mkhitar Hayrapetyan also touched upon the cooperation of the RA legislative and executive bodies with the Diaspora.
During the Q & A session the American Armenians were particularly interested in the programs underway in Armenia for the use of the Diaspora potential, the opportunities created in the future, the right given to the RA citizens living abroad to take part in the elections being held in Armenia, etc.
