On January 25, the President of the RA National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan visited the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin, met with His Holiness Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II. Congratulating Ararat Mirzoyan on being elected Head of the legislative body, the Supreme Patriarch expressed confidence that the President of the National Assembly and the deputies, as the elects of the people with their fruitful activity would promote the strengthening of statehood, the further prosperity of the country and the people’s welfare.

The interlocutors have touched upon the important role that is reserved to the RA National Assembly, particularly evaluating the activity in the spheres of law-making, oversight and parliamentary diplomacy.

Thanking Karekin II for congratulation and good wishes, the President of the National Assembly has underlined the important role that the newly elected deputies have in Armenia in shaping a new culture. The President of the National Assembly has noted that the church, as well as the National Assembly, has the most important mission to serve the people. Ararat Mirzoyan highly assessed the role of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church in the life of the country and the people and the activity aimed at preserving Armenian identity in the Diaspora. The sides underlined the importance of the further deepening of cooperation between the National Assembly and the Holy See.

The Catholicos of All Armenians once again offered his blessings to the RA National Assembly and Ararat Mirzoyan, wishing them to make prosper the Armenian state with their responsible mission.
