On November 29, the RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan was awarded the IPA CIS Cooperation Order at the sitting of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Council of the CIS held in Saint Petersburg.

Handing the award to Ara Babloyan and congratulating him on behalf of the colleagues, the IPA CIS Chairperson, the Speaker of the RF FA Council of Federation Valentina Matvienko particularly noted: “Today, the RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan is taking part in the Council sitting for the last time. Colleagues, during this period we have followed with the responsibility Mr Babloyan referred to the works of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, how active he has been. Ara Babloyan could preserve the situation in the republic in unusual, hard times, for which he has done a lot. Perhaps, he could not arrive, but today's presence characterizes Ara Babloyan as a serious and responsible person. Here we not only have an IPA Council, but also a team: we know each other, we are always in contact, we have been friends and we support each other. It characterizes you very well, Mr Babloyan, as a worthy person and a wise politician, who has made a right decision. In fact, you have made a considerable contribution to the IPA CIS works and you are awarded the IPA CIS higher award – Cooperation Order.”

Expressing his gratitude, the RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan noted: “I complete my activity in the RA NA President's Office, but my activity is not completed in the team, in the IPA CIS, I will be a friend, a colleague and an ally. I would like to thank everybody, note that the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, as CIS parliamentary component, an important and effective platform of the cooperation of the CIS States' parliaments, development of cooperation in different spheres, where constructive approaches are worked out and balanced decisions are made directed to the welfare of the CIS Member States. During his whole activities the Assembly has been an effective platform in looking for the answers of political, humanitarian and economic problems. In the modern international relations the parliamentary diplomacy has its unique role, being differed from the classical diplomacy and harmoniously filling it up.

On December 9 of this year extraordinary parliamentary will be held in Armenia. On this occasion we have sent invitations to the international organisations, including the IPA CIS for implementing observation mission. We'll do our best in order the elections in Armenia be held in accordance with the international standards, in consonance with the obligations assumed by Armenia.

I thank you for effective cooperation both within the IPA CIS and in bilateral format. The personal relations that are established between us are precious for me. Let me assure you that the new parliament of Armenia will also continue functioning with the spirit of the tradition established in the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly during the decades aimed at the strengthening of the inter-parliamentary dialogue for our peoples' welfare.”
