Ara Babloyan and Konstantin Zatulin Discuss Creation of New Platform of Cooperation

On October 8, the Speaker of the RA National Assembly Ara Babloyan received the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Konstantin Zatulin.

In the course of the meeting Ara Babloyan and Konstantin Zatulin, touching upon the Armenian-Russian inter-parliamentary relations, highlighted the mutually beneficial cooperation and the implementation of the programmes which would give an opportunity to further strengthen the Armenian-Russian public-political and spiritual-cultural ties.

Presenting his new idea to the Head of the Parliament, Konstantin Zatulin has noted that being the Armenian people's great friend and working for the further strengthening of the Armenian-Russian friendship through many years, he makes an initiative with the goal to give a new impetus to the enhancement of the Armenian-Russian ties in these spheres.

The initiative relates to creating a new platform of non-formal communication of more intimate character in the state, scientific, cultural and public spheres of the two countries. In fact, it will be called Lazarian Club in honour of the well-acclaimed Lazarian family that has done a huge work for the welfare of Russia and the Armenian-Russian friendship.

It is designed to make it a new and peculiar platform between the civil societies of Armenia and Russia which will promote the Armenian-Russian public dialogue in different planes, the expansion and strengthening of cultural, working, economic and scientific ties.

During the meeting the sides also touched upon the issues concerning the organization of the plenary sessions of the CSTO PA Council and the Assembly to be held in Yerevan on October 29-30, underlining that the Assembly will contribute to the legislative provision of the regional security.

Within the frameworks of the preparatory works of holding in Armenia the plenary sessions of the CSTO PA Council and the Assembly the CSTO PA Responsible Secretary Pyotr Ryabukhin had also meetings in the RA National Assembly earlier. Recently the Working Group on Organizational Issues of the RA National Assembly was in Saint Petersburg on a working visit.

And in the near future the meeting between the RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan and the Speaker of the RF State Duma of the Federal Assembly Vyacheslav Volodin is designed.
