On August 23, the delegation with the delegation comprised of the RA NA deputies Tatshat Vardapetyan, Armen Rustamyan and Hrachya Hakobyan being in the Czech Republic on an official met with the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic Radek Vondráček.

Thanking for the opportunity, Ara Babloyan highlighted the activation of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries. In this context the Head of the Parliament expressed conviction that the Armenian-Czech inter-parliamentary active contacts would give new impetus in different spheres for strengthening the bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation.

Touching upon the Armenian-Czech cooperation agenda, the RA NA Head has noted that Armenia-EU cooperation occupies an important place on that agenda. In this context Ara Babloyan expressed hope that the Chamber of Deputies would approve the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement signed between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union in one of its first sittings of the Autumn Session.

Welcoming the Armenian parliamentarians, the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic Radek Vondráček noted that during the long time the attention of the Chamber of Deputies was focused on the inner-political agenda: and because of that the Chamber of Deputies had not referred to the item of the ratification of the RA-EU Agreement by the Czech Republic. In this regard Radek Vondráček expressed hope that in autumn the Czech MPs would observe the abovementioned item.

The RA NA President expressed hope to his colleagues of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic for the adoption of the Resolution on Recognizing and Condemnation of the Armenian Genocide and Other Crimes against Humanity on 25 April 2017.

In response, Radek Vondráček has stated that the humanity shall adopt the historical facts and will call on, as they are.

In the course of the meeting the sides talked about the inner-political situation. The Head of the Armenian Parliament underlined that the political changes in Armenia happened without any shocks, and the parliament is ready to support the government in providing security of the country and the welfare of the population, as well as the further strengthening of democracy in Armenia.

At the end of the meeting the sides expressed trust that new ways of cooperation would be approved between the two countries.

On the same day within the framework of the official visit the Armenian parliamentarians’ delegation also visited Lidice Memorial in Kladno Region of the Czech Republic and paid tribute to the memory of the 82 children, who died in Lidice during the World War II.

Taking a tour in the territory of the Memorial, the Armenian parliamentarians led by Ara Babloyan planted a rose in Lidice Rose Alley as a memory of the deceased 82 children.

Ara Babloyan has stressed that if in some sense the human mind accepts that during the war people die, then he cannot perceive the fact of deliberately eliminating the children in any way.

The member of the Armenian delegation Armen Rustamyan has stated that such tragedies have no term of limitation and always should be condemned. As a token of eternity of the victims’ memory, Armen Rustamyan presented a Forget-Me-Not, a symbol of the Armenian Genocide Centenary, to one of the survivors of Lidice tragedy.

In the Memorial Museum the Armenian delegation got acquainted with the pictures presented in the exhibition dedicated to the memory of the deceased children by the children of different countries of the world, including the children of Armenia.
