1 / 1

“I learnt with deep pain about the death of the great master of sculpture, the ArmSSR and the USSR People’s Painter, the USSR State Prize Laureate, and Academician Nikoghayos Nikoghosyan. He was born in Armenia, lived outside Armenia, but remained connected with his Motherland and left a big trace not only in the Armenian sculpture art, but also with his monumental and monumental-decorative art gave specific charm to the beautiful features of Yerevan. Today, it is hard to imagine the capital of Armenia without the statues of Mikayel Nalbandian, Yeghishe Charents, Vahan Terian, and Gyumri – without Avetik Isahakian, which Nikoghayos Nikoghosyan created accompanied by the well-acclaimed Architect Jim Torosyan. At the same time his numerous works are shown in the National Gallery of Armenia and Tretyakov Gallery. In Armenia they always liked and highly assessed Nikoghayos Nikoghosyan’s art and connection with the Motherland, and its evidence are the orders of the Republic of Armenia, Saint Mesrop Mashtots and the Armenian Apostolic Church and Saint Sahak-Saint Mesrop. At this moment of hard loss for the Armenian culture on behalf of the National Assembly of the and personally me I express my deepest sympathy to Nikoghayos Nikoghosyan’s relatives and friends and share their grief. I am sure that Nikoghayos Nikoghosyan’s creative unique style will continue to develop in the Armenian sculpture art,” the condolence message by the RA NA President reads.
