Ara Babloyan’s Speech in AFP Bureau Session
1 / 5

On July 6, the delegation led by Ara Babloyan took part in the works of the Bureau Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie. In his speech Ara Babloyan touched upon the preparatory works of Yerevan Summit of La Francophonie.

“Dear Mr President,

Dear Mrs Secretary General,

Dear Mr Parliamentary Secretary General,

Dear Colleagues,

As you know October 11-12 of this year Armenia will host the Summit of La Francophonie and will preside over in that organisation for two years.

The organisation of such large-scale international event in our country once again assures our dedication to La Francophonie and will assist the spreading of the values of Francophonie in our region for the benefit of solidarity, the peoples’ legal equality, dialogue, democracy, human rights, cultural diversity and other values and principles, which we share with other Francophone family members.

For the success of the Summit Armenia concentrate its all opportunities.

By the decree of the President of the Republic, an Inter-Institutional Committee on Coordination of the preparatory works of the Summit led by the RA Prime Minister was created.

A Special Organisational Commission led by the Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia was created. It already functions, closely cooperating with the Organisational Committee created by the Secretariat of the International Organisation of La Francophonie.

Regarding the dates of holding the Summit, taking into consideration the calendar of the international events, we propose to hold Yerevan Summit on October 11-12, 2018, and we propose the following days for the OIF Statutory bodies – October 7, the Permanent Council of La Francophonie, October 8-9 – for the Conference of Ministers of La Francophnie.

As a symbol of the 17th Summit, for a continuation f Yerevan Conference of Ministers, the Pomegranate has been chosen which is of symbolic significance in the Armenian culture.

We pay special importance to the provision of the visibility of the Summit. We would like to continue the initiative of Madagascar Summit and encourage the participation of the youth in the sessions of the Statutory bodies of La Francophonie to be held in Yerevan.

We would like this meeting of high ranking officials to become a big event of consolidation through cultural programmes, and one of the memorable events will be the gala concert with the participation of the Francophone authroitative singers designed on October 11, which will take place at the end of the first day before the state dinner.

We also schedule to organize “Town of La Francophonie,” where the member countries of the International Organisation of La Francophonie will represent cultural diversity, crafts and art of their peoples in relevant pavilions.

Dear Mr President,

Dear Mrs Secretary General,

Dear Mr Parliamentary Secretary General,

Dear Colleagues,

With regards to the main slogan of the Summit, we propose the theme Live Together. Live Together , respecting the solidarity, the humanitarian values and diversity as a basis of peace and welfare in the Francophone region.”

We are sure that it can promote the further strengthening of our societies’ unity.

We also expect to work a new fundamental document of La Francophonie in creating a pact Live Together. The pact enshrines in comprehensive way the principles and values of the notion Live Together – the human rights, the democracy, the cooperation, the education, the digital ecnomy, inter-cultural and inter-religious dialogue, as well as the uprooting sowing the terrorism and the force terrorism, xenophobia, the ideology sowing hatred, the fight against intolerance an discrimination. With this respect we’d like the Youth Network of La Francophonie to join the process and have its contribution to having this document in action.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Among the important events within the Summit we intend to Organize Economic Forum of La Francophonie. Our goal is to encourage the contacts between the businessmenm to have discussions on the basis of economic strategy of La Francophonie over the challenges and perspectives of development.

We greatly highlight the strengthening of the entrepreneurs’ institutional and professional ties and we hope that it will be possible to create bases in Yerevan for the launch of Francophone Entrepreneurs’ Network.

Dear Colleagues,

The Summit will give an opportunity to touch upon the regional and international challenges. Other important themes are envisaged on the agenda, as well as the stable development, the cutural diversity, the role of the youth, the digital Francophone, the women’s and men’s legal equality, the confrontation of climatic changes, etc.

Thank you for attention,” the RA NA Presient Ara Babloyan.
