Ara Babloyan’s Congratulatory Address on Republic Day
1 / 1

“Dear compatriots,

I congratulate you on the centenary jubilee of Republic Day, May victories and restoration of independence!

On this day, hundred years ago, after six centuries of interruption the Armenian statehood was reborn. The people, who had been subjected to genocide, uniting all forces on the remained last section from the historical fatherland, twisted the procedure of the history. The May nationwide heroic battles were crowned by Sardarapat glorious victory and became the pillars on which the declaration of the first Republic of Armenia was anchored on.

One century ago the word ARMENIA again was written on the political map of Armenia. The Armenian regular officer, the Western Armenian immigrant and the Caucasian Armenian farmer, the Artsakh fighter and the Armenian clergyman together conquered that right. And the generations transferred to us the system of values based on the faith towards the irreplaceability and the Armenians’ forces, the bearer of which we are today.

In the most complicated historical-political conditions the rebirth of our statehood had a short life. But the two and a half years of its existence had been sufficient to provide the people’s life and security, to undertake serious steps for creating armed forces, and returning back into natural way the state and public life.

The First Republic of Armenia has become the basis, on which the Soviet Armenia has risen, and today the Republics of Armenia and Artsakh build a protected Motherland and free social system. And that is the best tribute to those, who in their black days of despair awarded us May 28.

I once again congratulate the whole Armenian people on this innermost holiday, and wish you peace, happiness, creative work, will and resoluteness of building a free state,” the RA NA President’s congratulatory address reads.
