Congratulatory Message on Liberation of Shushi and Victory and Peace Day by President of National Assembly Ara Babloyan
1 / 1

Dear compatriots,

26 years ago, at the end of the past century one of the glorious pages of the Armenian people's struggle for independence was written: Shushi was liberated. It became one of the most important guarantees of the Artsakh Armenians' security and created preconditions for crowning the Artsakh freedom fighting with victory, today for having firmly defended borders. Shushi was liberated due to Armenian military arts and national unity.

Congratulating everybody and, first of all, Yerkrapah volunteers, let us bow before the bright memory of all our heroes, who did not spare their life for the defense of the borders of the Motherland and the right of the Armenians’ free living.

Today, we also celebrate the Victory and Peace Day. The Armenian people paid very expensive price for the victory against fascism in the Great Patriotic War. The ideology based on hatred had drawn such divisive lines in the world that dozens of millions of people died for removing them, and hundreds of millions of destinies were ruined. May 8 and 9 days of remembrance of the victims during World War II and reconciliation are marked. Let us always remember that different ideas and visions should unite the society, but not disunite or build artificial barricades between the people of different comprehensions.

Once again I congratulate you on the occasion of these innermost holidays, incense the memory of those who have fallen for the defense of the borders of the Motherland and wish that with united efforts we’ll be able to use every day of peace for strengthening Armenia and Artsakh, reinforce the defense of borders and the people’s welfare.”
