On March 19, during the press conference of the RA NA Armenia-USA Friendship Group the RA NA Vice President, the Head of the Friendship Group Arpine Hovhannisyan presented the details of the visit to the USA, noting that the agenda had been full. The visit began with the meetings of the representatives of different organizations of the Armenian community.

Discussions were held with the Vice President for Studies for Russia and Eurasia of Russia and Eurasian Program in Carnegie Endowment and the Senior Expert on Nagorno Karabakh problem, the Armenian-Turkish Protocols, its calling back, the provision of security in the region and possible developments. They touched upon the RA-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement and in that context the priorities of the foreign politicy agenda of our country.

At the meeting of Arpine Hovhannisyan and the Deputy Assistant Administrator in the USAID Bureau for Europe and Eurasia Gretchen Birkle issues concerning the possible cooperation in the spheres of information technologies, tourism, the restoring energy and other spheres. The sides also highlighted the new format of cooperation Transition from Assistance to Trade Relations.

The Armenian Delegation also met with the members of the US Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues. A number of problems were discussed, including the issue of the restoration of the Millennium Challenges Program.

During the framework of the visit at the meeting with the Head of the US House of Representatives of the Congress Nancy Pelosi the perspectives of possible cooperation were discussed.

At the meeting with the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives the Armenian parliamentarians talked the reforms occurring in Armenia and the complex fighting against corruption.

The Member of the delegation Naira Zohrabyan, highlighting the visit documented that in the USA they tried to find comparative and mutually beneficial commonalities on the key issues. The MP distinguished the meetings held at experts’ level, where items of vital importance for Armenia were discussed.

According to the member of the delegation Edmon Marukyan, this time the Armenian community also expressed concerns on the inner-political problems of Armenia and the development of economy.

Talking about the visit to the USA, the member of the delegation Aghvan Vardanyan has documented that during all meetings there were constructive discussions, the Armenian MPs have voiced their viewpoints that the RA pursued foreign policy stems only from our national and state interests.
