Issues Concerning the Women’s Participation in the Public-Political Processes Discussed

On April 28, the RA NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan met with the President of the Women’s Association with University Education Jemma Hasratyan, the Officer for Gender programmes at OSCE Office in Yerevan Liana Aghabekyan and the OSCE/ODIHR expert, Gender Advisor Komila Rakhimova.

Hermine Naghdalyan highlighted the cooperation of the RA National Assembly with the OSCE/ODIHR and presented her considerations in connection with the programme regarding the women’s participation and role in the party work being done by the OSCE/ODIHR. She has underlined that positive steps are taken in Armenia in the rise of the women’s role in the public life and the expansion of their involvement.

Mrs Naghdalyan also presented to the guests the public-political processes going on in our country, touched upon the amendments relating to the participation of the women in the elections by the Draft Electoral Code and emphasized the expansion of the women’s participation in the local self-government and national elections.

Ruzanna Muradyan referrred to the women’s involvement in the activities of the party and introduced the work of the women involved in the structures of the RPA Women’s Council.

In the course of the meeting the participants talked about the programmes and documents on gender issues, the efforts directed to the expansion of the women’s political possibilities, the boosting of the women’s participation in the political and public processes and other issues.
