Ararat Mirzoyan Receives Ambassador of Cuba in Our Country

On March 26, the RA NA President Ararat Mirzoyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Armenia Emilio Pevida Pupo.

The Head of the Parliament congratulated the Ambassador on assuming his diplomatic mission and expressed conviction that he would make his efforts in all initiatives aimed in the development and strengthening of the Armenian-Cuban relations.

Noting that Armenia has rather active relations with a number of countries of Latin America, expressed hope that due to joint efforts the cooperation with Cuba would reach to a high level.

Evaluating the activity of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups in the development of bilateral relations, the Head of the legislative body noted that Armenia-Cuba Friendship Group had already been formed in the National Assembly. Highlighting the activation of cooperation on the international platforms Ararat Mirzoyan has noted that there is unused considerable potential.

The NA President expressed his gratitude to the authorities of Cuba for helping the Armenian people in the hardest days of 1988 earthquake.

Thanking Ararat Mirzoyan for the reception, Emilio Pevida Pupo assured that during his tenure he would do his best for promoting the further development and deepening of the relations between the two countries. The Ambassador also emphasized the role of the parliamentary diplomacy in the strengthening of bilateral ties.

The interlocutors touched upon the opportunities of expanding the cooperation in different spheres, stressed the implementation of joint programmes, particularly in the spheres science education and tourism. The sides have documented that despite the distance between the two countries, all preconditions are available for the further development of bilateral relations.

In the course of the meeting the interlocutors referred to the issue of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, the recognition of the Armenian Genocide and the constitutional amendments of the Republic of Cuba.
