Ara Babloyan Receives Ambassador of Belarus to Armenia
1 / 2

On June 23, the RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan received Igor Nazaruk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Armenia.

Highlighting the role of the parliamentary diplomacy in the development and deepening of the relations between the parliaments and the countries, the RA NA Speaker has noted that the Friendship Group with Belarus has already been formed. Ara Babloyan has underlined the importance of the Armenian-Belarusian long-term relations based on many spiritual and cultural commonalities.

Touching upon the Nagorno Karabakh problem, the Speaker of the RA has noted that as a civilized world, Armenia sees the solution of this problem exclusively through peaceful negotiations within the OSCE Minsk Group. Referring to the situation on the frontline in recent days and the young servicemen’s death, Ara Babloyan noted: “The settlement of the conflict should be solved around the negotiati օ n table: the issues should be solved with pen, but not with weapon. There should not be any victim from either of the sides.”

In this context the RA NA Speaker thanked Belarus for the balanced position.

Igor Nazaruk congratulated Ara Babloyan for being elected the RA National Assembly Speaker and for organizing fair and transparent elections.

Talking about the NK conflict, Igor Nazaruk has stated that there is no alternative for the OSCE Minsk Group in the settlement issue: Belarus is for peaceful solutions. The Ambassador of Belarus highlighted the development and deepening of the relations between the parliaments of the two countries and underlined the necessity of supporting each other on the international platforms.

At the end of the meeting the interlocutors touched upon the Constitutional reforms in Armenia, the parliamentary system of government and the activities of the Friendship Groups in the newly elected parliament.
