Parliament Continues Work of Regular Sitting

On November 16, the RA National Assembly continued debating the legislative package of the RA draft laws on Compensation of the Damages Caused to the Servicemen’s Life or Health during the RA Defense, on Amending the RA Law on Servicemen’s and Their Family Members’ Social Security and on Amending the RA Law on State Pensions.

The NA deputies Karine Atshemyan, Artak Zakaryan, Mher Shahgeldyan, Rubik Hakobyan, Zaruhi Postanjyan, Khosrov Harutyunyan, Karine Poghosyan, Vahe Enfiajyan, Levon Martirosyan, Hrant Bagratyan, Aghvan Vardanyan resumed expressing their viewpoints on the package.

The NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan delivered an extraordinary speech. By her recommendation the deputies in one-minute silence honoured the memory of the all deceased brave sons from Artsakh war until now.

The NA Deputy Speaker welcomed the legislative initiative submitted by the Government and touched upon the questions and concerns voiced by some deputies during three-day debates, noting that the Foundation will function transparent and with reporting.

The representatives of the NA Factions (Rule of Law, Heghine Bisharyan, ARF – Armen Rustamyan, ANC – Levon Zurabyan, PAP – Naira Zohrabyan) expressed their views on the issue under debate.

The RA Minister of Defense Vigen Sargsyan touched upon the interpellations voiced in the MPs' speeches and gave clarifications.

Afterwards, the deputies debated the Agreement signed by the exchange of notification on Postponing the Seven-Year Agreement Concerning Cooperation in the Area of Counterproliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the United States of America signed on December 30, 2015 and on October 25, 2016. The RA Deputy Minister of Defense Ara Nazaryan noted that the aim of the Agreement was to postpone the term of the Agreement in effect by 7 years.

The Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations submitted the endorsement of the Committee.

The parliament in the second reading debated the bill on Amending the RA Civil Code and the enclosed package of bills.

The Chairman of the Head Committee, the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs, Vardan Ayvazyan submitted the endorsement of the Committee.

The National Assembly will continue the work at November 17 sitting.

In accordance with the law the NA Rules of Procedure, at the last sitting the members of the RA Government answered the deputies’ questions.
