Working Meeting of the Heads of the Parliamentary Delegations of the CSTO PA Members to the CSTO PA to the OSCE PA is Held

YEREVAN , March 11. The working meeting of the heads of the parliamentary delegations of the CSTO member states to the OSCE PA was held.

The representatives of the CSTO member states from Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and members of Observation Delegation of Serbia took part in the meeting.

The Head of the Armenian Delegation to the OSCE PA Artashes Geghamyan, welcoming the guest in the RA National Assembly, touched upon the participation of the CSTO PA Delegation during the OSCE PA Winter Meeting held in Vienna on February 25-26, 2016.

Summing up the activities and the achievements of the CSTO PA Delegation during the Winter Meeting, Artashes Geghamyan highlighted the cooperation of the delegations of the CSTO member states and the unity of the forces. Artashes Geghamyan underlined that during the Summer Meeting to be held in Tbilisi on July 1-5 we should show united approach for solving the geopolitical problems facing the member states.

The CSTO General Secretary Nikolay Bordyuzha touched upon the systemization of the foreign policy of the member states in the CSTO format. Nikolay Bordyuzha highlighted the general approach in the issues of regional security and the cooperation around those issues at international platforms. According to the CSTO General Secretary, the bilateral meetings at international platforms let systematizing the joint actions, regulate the exchange of information and can noticeably raise the efficiency of the activities of the member states. Nikolay Bordyuzha noted that the cooperation between the CSTO member states should be raised to a new degree, stressing on the Heads of the delegations of the countries chairing the organization and defending with joint forces the participants’ common and national interests. The Head of the Permanent Delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the CSTO PA Milovan Drecun thoroughly touched upon the chairmanship of Serbia to the OSCE in 2015. Mr Drecun presented the problems and the achievements emerged during the chairmanship of Serbia. He noted that during the chairmanship of Serbia the issues concerning the fight against terrorism, trafficking and drugs sale were discussed. Serbia drew its attention to the challenges of time, highlighting the problems of international security.

At the meeting the representatives of the delegations of the CSTO member states touched upon the themes to be discussed during the OSCE PA Summer Session to be held in Tbilisi on July 1-5, 2016, the coordinated activities of the CSTO Delegation and mechanisms of revising joint approaches.
