On February 24-26 the Head of the RA NA Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francoponie in Morocco took part in the regular session of the Women’s Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie. The women parliamentarians debated the issues relating to the women’s role and participation in the new developments and challenges of the world. The speakers were unanimous that the Francophonie women should be more active and initiators in the governing system, works in the legislative bodies in their countries and in other issues. The experts presented the results of their studies on the women’s rights in different countries. It has been noted that in many countries women are deprived of elementary rights, for example, they cannot mention their nationality, the husband should make a decision for it: it is like that in about 10 countries, and in about 31 countries the woman has no right to sign any document, it is exclusively reserved to men.

In her speech Margarit Yesayan introduced the woman’s role in the government process of our country. She has informed the parliamentarians that 13 women MPs are in the RA Parliament, and 3 women ministers in the Government. Mrs Yesayan presented the model of the formation of the Armenian family to her counterparts and answered numerous questions.
