Hermine Naghdalyan Meets with the Delegation Led by the Serbian Minister of Defence

On November 25 the RA NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan met with the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Serbia Bratislav Gašić and the delegation led by him. The Head of Armenia-Serbia Fiendship Group Karen Avagyan, the members of the Group Tevan Poghosyan and Bazmaser Arakelyan also attended the meeting.

Welcoming the high ranking guest, Hermine Naghdalyan has underlined that Serbia is a friendly country, and the Armenian and Serbian peoples have historical-cultural numerous commonalities. Touching upon the bilateral relations, Mrs Naghdalyan has noted with satisfaction that year by year those ties activates and the cooperation becomes of more practical character in a number of spheres. In this context the NA Deputy Speaker has referred to the development of the inter-parliamentary relations, documenting that there is necessity of more developing the cooperation in this sphere. In the expansion of the Armenian-Serbian relations she has highlighted the active cooperation of the Friendship Groups in the parliaments of the two countries. She has touched upon the issues regarding the activation of partnership within the framework of the international organizations.

The NA Deputy Speaker has stated that the priority on the political agenda of our country is the problem and the peaceful settlement of the Artsakh problem within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group. Highlighting the provision of the stability in the region, Mrs Naghdalyan has talked about the case of violation of the ceasefire regime by the neighbouring Azerbaijan and the border tension.

Hermine Naghdalyan thanked the guests for the participation of the Serbian President in the events of the Genocide Centennial.

Thanking the NA Deputy Speaker for the reception, Bratislav Gašić also emphasized the implementation of the steps aimed at the enlivening of the inter-parliamentary relations, and the cooperation in the international structures. Regarding the NK conflict, he expressed conviction that the problem of Artsakh should be regulated within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group on the basis of the Madrid principles. To the Minister's conviction, such issues should be solved through dialogue and diplomacy. Mr Gašić has underlined that a big number of Armenians live in Serbia, who as exemplary citizens have great contribution to the development of the country.

In the course of the meeting the interlocutors expressed readiness to make efforts from now on for keeping the existing positive dynamics and developing it.
