Meeting at the NA Standing Committee

On June 30 the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration Naira Zohrabyan met with Katherine Leach, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The Ambassador was interested in the agenda of the development of Armenia-European Union relations, what problems the Armenian side sees which can be a basis for resuming the Armenia-EU dialogue. Naira Zohrabyan presented Armenia’s inner-political situation, talking over the Eurasian economic integration process and Armenia-EU relations. The Committee Chair expressed hope that both the EU and the political forces interested in the European agenda in Armenia will do their utmost to dynamically develop and continue the Armenia-EU agenda.

Ambassador Katherine Leach welcomed the accession of the Prosperous Armenia Party to the big family of European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR), expressing hope that as big amount of Armenian parties integrate to European big families as much the Armenia-European Union agenda will win.

The sides also discussed issues related to the activity and further steps of the NA non-power quartet, touched upon the Electoral Code and the amendments made to a number of laws, as well as the concept on constitutional reforms.
