Meeting with Students of Waldorf School in Copenhagen
1 / 13

The RA NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan hosted the 11th grade students of one of Waldorf schools in Copenhagen on March 22. The Chair of the Standing Committee on European Integration Arman Yeghoyan, deputies Sona Ghazaryan and Arusyak Julhakyan also took part in the meeting.

Welcoming the students who visited parliament, the NA Vice President presented the democratic achievements formed and registered as a result of the velvet, peaceful revolution of 2018.

According to him, the RA Government pays great attention to the financing of science and education: science funding is continuously increased, as well as the teachers’ salaries. Talking about the strategic reforms implemented in the sphere of education, the NA Vice President touched upon the school-building, the construction of kindergartens, and the increase of teachers’ salaries.

“Aregnazan educational complex has a long history of cooperation with one of Copenhagen’s Waldorf schools. Every year the 11th grade students of that school visit Armenia to study the history of Armenia and Christianity,” the teacher of the educational complex Ara Atayan said, introducing the students.

Highlighting the establishment of friendly and warm ties between young people of different countries, he noted that since 2015 students have also been visiting the National Assembly of Armenia. During 10 days, cognitive excursions to places of interest, historical and cultural institutions are organized for the students.

Answering the students’ questions, Arman Yeghoyan referred to the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide by different countries, stating that it is important to prevent future genocidal crimes.

The MP Sona Ghazaryan spoke about the consequences of the crisis in Nagorno Karabakh due to the closing of the Lachin Corridor, and ethnic cleansing.

The students’ questions were also related to the development of Armenia’s economy, the export and import of goods, and the fight against corruption. They inquired about Armenia-Turkey relations, the attitude of the Armenian people towards religions, the generational change, and reflected on the active involvement of women in various spheres.

Returning to Copenhagen, the students will prepare reports presenting their projects.
