Deputies of Armenia-Germany Friendship Group Meet with Michael Roth

On July 5, within the framework of the visit of the deputies of the RA NA Armenia-Germany Friendship Group to Berlin, the members of the delegation met with the Chairman of the Foreign Committee of the Bundestag Michael Roth (Social Democratic Party/SPD).

Deputies representing all the parliamentary factions of the Committee took part in the meeting. During the meeting the sides underlined the importance of holding substantive discussions on expanding bilateral cooperation in the parliamentary format.

During the speeches items on the Armenian-German parliamentary agenda were raised. The sides exchanged opinions on the elimination of the consequences of the aggressive war unleashed against Artsakh by Azerbaijan, the necessity of the immediate repatriation of prisoners of war and other held persons in Azerbaijan, and the protection of the Armenian cultural heritage on the territories appeared under the control of Azerbaijan.

The participants of the meeting welcomed the decisions of the FRG Government to include Armenia in bilateral partnership 2030 strategy.

The participants of the meeting highlighted the ongoing democratic processes in Armenia, underscoring the key role of democracy in guaranteeing regional security and peace. The sides referred to the normalization process of the Armenian-Turkish relations. At the meeting the perspectives of the implementation of the RA-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement were also discussed.
