Artur Hovhannisyan: “The Purpose of the Opposition is not to save Artsakh, their purpose is the transition of a power”
1 / 6

“The opposition once again ran away from the truth, ran away from the substantive discussion, and it was very honest, sincere. I think it deserved applause,” answering the journalist’s question, the deputy of the Civil Contract Faction Vahagn Aleksanyan said during the parliamentary briefings on May 5.

According to the Secretary of the NA Civil Contract Faction Artur Hovhannisyan, in case of all possible phenomena, the opposition members try to devalue what is possible. “We have not welcomed the opposition, we do not welcome any action of the opposition and any opposition figure after all this,” Artur Hovhannisyan said in connection with the same question.

Answering the question on what was the content of what the Prime Minister said, he noted that Nikol Pashinyan will say what he has to say, looking into the eyes of the opposition.

Artur Hovhannisyan is sure that the purpose of the opposition is not to save Artsakh, the purpose of the opposition is the transition of a power. “There are calls, toasts, speeches about the salvation of Artsakh. However, people cannot save Artsakh by displaying flags in the streets of Yerevan. They have a different purpose,” the Secretary of the Civil Contract Faction said.

In response to the question whether the power will have a discussion with the opposition on the Artsakh issue, he assured that they publicly, as well as non-publicly offered the opposition to go and get acquainted with different documents, to get information that is impossible to publicly voice.

“The people are the power in Armenia, Armenia, as a state, stands firmly in its place with its power structures, government and legislative body, and it will not allow to use democracy as a means of hooliganism and disorders,” Artur Hovhannisyan noted.

Vahagn Aleksanyan, referring to the reminder of the opposition that Pashinyan said, if people want, he will leave, answered: “There is no such public demand as such.”

According to the deputy, marches and protests of the opposition are not crowded, large segments of society do not join the opposition. He also thinks that they will not join.
