On December 2, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs met with the representatives of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (INTERNATIONAL IDEA).

Welcoming the guests, Vladimir Vardanyan highlighted the cooperation with the international experts and the organizations specialized in the sphere democracy and human rights.

“You have visited Armenia during a period, when our country tries to overcome the aftermath of war and effective fight against pandemic,” the Committee Chair underlined.

The Head of the Programme Manager in the Western European Countries in Different Directions with Nana Kalandadze has informed that the organization is an Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, the main goal of which is assisting the constitutional reform process.

In response to the guests’ questions, the Committee Chair noted that the main issue of the constitutional reforms had been on the agenda of the Parliament of Armenia and other state bodies.

“We have emphasized and we continue emphasizing the activities of the relevant committees on the constitutional amendments,” Vladimir Vardanyan said. According to him, necessity has emerged to touch upon the issue of the constitutional reforms for withstanding the challenges created after war.

The interlocutors discussed issues on deepening the bilateral cooperation.
