Alen Simonyan Hosts Young People Passing Practice in Parliament Within the Framework Being Implemented by National Democracy Institute

On October 14, the RA NA President Alen Simonyan hosted the young people passing practice in the National Assembly of Armenia within the framework being implemented by the National Democracy Institute (NDI).

Welcoming the participants of the program, the RA NA President Alen Simonyan expressed conviction that it would be interesting instructive for them in the legislative body of the country. Alen Simonyan highlighted the fact that the young people would pass an educational experience both in the power and opposition factions, which would give them opportunity to compare and understand the style and peculiarities of the work.

The Head of Parliament touched upon politician and citizen relations, emphasizing the frequent meetings and contacts with the citizens. According to Alen Simonyan, the citizens’ with is to be audible. The Head for the National Democracy Institute (NDI) in Armenia Laura Nichols thanked the NA President for the joint work and informed that the program would continue also in 2022.

The Head of the NDI Parliament Program Hovhannes Harutyunyan expressed his gratitude to the NA President for the reception and presented the essence of the program.

The practice program in the National Assembly is for ten months, and it is financed by the U.S. Agency for International Development and it is implemented by the National Democracy Institute (NDI). The program 27 interns every year, aiming at acquainting the young people of Armenia with the works of parliament. The interns assist the factions, the MPs, the Standing Committees and the NA employees in the legislative researches, in the citizens’ involvement and in the communication support.
