On June 27, the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs initiated a working debate on the theme on Current Situation of Dairy Product Market, where representatives of the state structures, NGOs and dairy product enterprises took part.

The Committee Chair Babken Tunyan noted that the reason of the meeting was considered the results of testing made in the dairy product market recently, according to which, one of the laboratories discovered oil in the sour cream being in sale in Armenia, and the other did not. Babken Tunyan has noted that the goal of the debate is to find the versions of the solution for the problems existing in the sphere.

The Head of the Food Security State Service of the RA Ministry of Agriculture Georgi Avetisyan has stated that there is no reference laboratory in our country (constitutional court of the laboratory sphere). The participants of the debate highlighted the preservation of the goods sampling rules before sending it for laboratory research and the public control towards the activity of laboratories. An opinion has been voiced that the difference between the results given on the same product by different laboratories can be not considerable. The specialists have noted that the availability of oil in the food is not dangerous, the important thing is the problem of composition of it, and in that case the buyer personally will make a decision to buy the product or not.

Summing up the debate Babken Tunyan proposed to meet on July 9 and debate concrete proposals directed to the solution of the problems of the sphere.
