RA NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Convenes a Sitting

On April 29, the RA NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs moderated by Naira Zohrabyan convened a sitting.

The Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan presented for debate the annual report on the Activity of the RA Human Rights Defender and the Situation of Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms during the Year 2018 and the annual report on the Activity of the RA Human Rights Defender for 2018 as Prevention National Mechanism.

The Human Rights Defender has noted that they effectively work with the Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs.

In the Q & A session the MPs touched upon the problems of the postponement of the judicial sittings, the quality of medical service in the criminal-executive institutions, the activity of the groups spreading hatred in the social networks, its consequences and other items, on which the Human Rights Defender presented clarifications. Thanking his colleagues for constructive interpellations and recommendations he expressed readiness for cooperation.

The debated item was accepted as information.

The debate of the draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA Law on Advocacy authored by the government was postponed up to two months.

At the end of the sitting Naira Zohrabyan informed the attendees that by the recommendation of the MP Taguhi Tovmasyan the Chairman of the Higher Judicial Council Gagik Harutyunyan was invited. It was noted that in the near future the Committee would initiate psychiatric institutions.
