Lena Nazaryan Receives Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People\'s Congress of China

On April 4, the RA NA Deputy Speaker, the Head of the NA Armenia-China Friendship Group Lena Nazaryan, the members of the Group and the deputies met with the delegation led by Shen Yueyue, the Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) being in the Republic of Armenia on an official visit.

The Head of the NA Armenia-China Friendship Group has underlined that the visit of the delegation to Armenia witnesses to the Armenian-Chinese friendship. According to the NA Deputy Speaker, China is one of the most important partners and the friendship between the two peoples begins since the times of the existence of the historical Great Silk Road. Lena Nazaryan noted that after the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992 the relations developed and it had been possible due to the dialogue based on the mutual trust and good will confirmed by work.

The Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People’s Republic of China has noted that she visits Armenia for the first time and has already noticed that the Armenians have a rich historical heritage, and they are very hospitable and talented. Shen Yueyue has underlined that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries the Armenian-Chinese ties dynamically develop. It has been noted that the volumes of the trade turnover and the cooperation in a number of spheres develops. The Chinese side expressed readiness to make joint efforts to advance and implement new initiatives and programmes. Talking about the good relations established between the parliaments and the dialogue, Shen Yueyue considered necessary to deepen the cooperation on concrete themes between the Committees, Friendship Groups and the female MPs. The Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee has informed that a Friendship Group with our country has also been formed in their parliament which comprises of 15 MPs.

Speaking about the cooperation in security and defense, Lena Nazaryan emphasized the cooperation in cyber crime and training of human resources.

With regards to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, the NA Deputy Speaker expressed her gratitude to China for the balanced position on the problem and supporting the peaceful settlement of the issue. Shen Yueyue noted that the position of China on the problem settlement remained the same. She noted that the negotiating sides would preserve restraint and solve the problem through political dialogue.

Lena Nazaryan evaluated the support provided to our country by China and attached importance to the Armenian-Chinese Friendship School opened in Yerevan.

The Head of the NA Armenia-China Friendship Group congratulated the people of China on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the launch of the declared reforms and the liberalisation policy by Deng Xiaoping and the 70th anniversary of the PRC formation, wishing them peace, welfare and happiness.

At the end of the meeting Shen Yueyue left a note in the Book of Honourable Guests of the RA National Assembly.
