Parliamentarians and Businessmen in One Structure

On April 1, the representatives of parliamentary group-factions met Frederick Hyde-Chambers, Secretary General of International Association of Parliaments and Businessmen, in order to discuss the possible ways of cooperation of the business world and legislative body, in particular, the new model proposed by the Association. As Mr. Chambers said, their initiative of uniting the parliamentarians and businessmen has the aim to contribute to the transparency of the business, as well as the decrease of the economic corruption. The Association comprises of 200 international organizations and is presented in 16 countries. It was noted that alongside with European leading countries, France, Belgium, Spain and Scandinavian countries. This system has been also recently invested in neighbouring Georgia. The representative of the Association familiarized the Armenian MPs with the applied experience of Georgia and its peculiarities. “In case of wish, it can become a regional scheme,” said the guest. The legislators of Armenia positively responded the initiative, moving the issue to the plane of practical agreements. Manvel Badeyan, the Deputy Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations welcomed the proposed approach of dialogue and cooperation between the businessmen and MPs, assessing it as a good opportunity of exchange of experience between the countries and parliaments and harmonizing the legislation. Hermine Naghdalyan noted that on the past short way of parliamentarism, the most effective way of cooperating with those implementing economic activity has not been succeeded yet, though the interest towards business increases in the Armenian Parliament year by year. Mrs. Naghdalyan pointed out that in these researches, as well as on the way of Armenia’s European Integration the assistance of the International Association of Parlaiments and Businessmen will be useful.
